ZADY.

[endif]--I was introduced to the company @Zady by Professor Revkin. After doing some research I have learned that Zady is known for “ethically sourced clothing and accessories”. The mission that Zady attributes to itself is one that focuses on the quality of their clothes. People are forced to continuously buy more clothing and fill closets with low quality clothes because anything high quality is just too expensive. Zady for sure did their research.

The fashion industry is responsible for a full 10% of the carbon output the whole world creates, it is also responsible for 20% of all fresh water pollution, our polyester is now 85% of the human-made material found on the world’s shorelines and the industry’s hunger for fabrics like rayon and modal causes up to 100 million trees being cut down each year. (To explore more on the subject, you can hop over to our article here.)[endif]--![endif]--

[endif]--I am so impressed and amazed at how Zady.com outlines all of its research and information. If you go to the tab, THE NEW STANDARD, it literally breaks down the whole process of making clothes and describes what is effecting the environment, and how fashion relates to climate, corruption, animals and more.

Why is this all important you ask? Well unless it matters to you, or you care about the environment, it’s not. But here are the facts: on average people only wear an article of clothing seven times before it is tossed away, this fact is the reason that the fashion industry is producing 150 billion articles of clothing a year. And if this clothing contains polyester, which almost all of it does now, than we are polluting the air by wearing clothes just as much, if not more, than we are with filling our cars up with gas (Zady.com).

The Benefits

Using organic cotton allows for no artificial pesticides, more man-made fertilizers, and no modified seeds. Hemp is a fibre that contributes to the reduction of carbon dioxide concentration ( a greenhouse gas) in the atmosphere.

Eco-friendly clothing is healthier as well. All of the chemical dyes and pesticides are actually bad for our bodies. Some other chemicals, if small enough, can get into our skin and cause harm to health. Check out All Recycling Facts for even more facts and numbers that will make you rethink what you’re wearing.

An interview with the CEO showed that the company knew they were in for some work when deciding to illustrate each step in the process of producing an article of clothing. They started small and hoped people would like and buy it. They were able to do it and it was a big success. Good work Zady.
